On June 27, 2023, at approximately 7:38 pm, a Fort Collins Police Sergeant in a marked Police Ford Interceptor SUV, was responding to a robbery in progress call with his emergency lights and sirens activated. The Sergeant was going eastbound on East Drake Road and slowed to cross against the traffic signal at South Timberline Road. While the Sergeant was crossing the intersection, a collision occurred with a northbound Toyota Tundra.
The collision caused the Police Interceptor to roll on its side and slide before coming back to rest on its wheels partially in the median east of the intersection. The Tundra sustained moderate front end damage. Thankfully no one was injured in the collision. Due to the Police Interceptor being involved, investigators with the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team responded to take over the investigation and technical aspects of the investigation.
