COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV has been predicted to win the 2023 Mountain West baseball title, as voted on by the league’s seven head coaches.
The Rebels received four first-place votes and 33 points overall, while San José State is six points behind with 27 points and two first-place votes.San Diego State is in third place with 25 points and Fresno State is just behind in fourth place with 24 points and the remaining first-place vote.
Air Force (21), Nevada (10) and New Mexico (7) round out the Conference’s preseason standings.UNLV, under the direction of 2022 MW Coach of the Year Stan Stolte, returns 15 letterwinners from a 2022 squad that won the Rebels’ fourth MW regular-season title after posting a 21-9 record in Conference action.
Among UNLV’s returners are three 2022 All-Mountain West selections in senior infielder Edarian Williams and junior outfielders Rylan Charles and Austin Kryszczuk.Air Force, San José State and UNLV each had three preseason All-Mountain West Selections, tying for the most in the league.The 2023 Mountain West baseball season begins Friday, Feb. 17, with all seven teams in action.
