Thanks to three second-place finishes and a couple of third-place results, the Colorado College men's swimming and diving team remains in second place after three days at the 2023 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Garland ISD Natatorium.
A trio of sophomores, Jack Hussin, Collin Ralston and Caleb Peimann, each finished second on Friday. Hussin was runner-up in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:39.71, Ralston in the 100 breaststroke (56.55) and Peimann in the 100 backstroke (51.83).
The Tigers placed four swimmers in the final of the 200 freestyle, with Step Flanagan (4th), Edmund Davis (7th) and Will Barber (8th), joining Hussin.
Meanwhile, senior Topher Shepherd finished third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:08.37, followed by junior Tony Saenz in fifth and sophomore Jack Higgins in seventh. Eric Uerling also earned all-SCAC honors with a third-place result in the 100 butterfly, while freshman Lucio Bollettieri finished eighth.
In the 1-meter diving event, sophomore Aidan Richter and senior Mac O'Brien finished second and third with scores of 534.45 and 397.70, respectively. Freshman Brian D'Alessandro placed fifth with 352.45 points. Trinity's Konstantine Partalas won the event with a score of 540.00.
Colorado College is second in the men's standings with 595 points, trailing only first-place Trinity who finished the night with a three-day total of 672. Southwestern is third with 522.5.
