Larimer County issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.
Standing where a new vehicle access thoroughfare for the fairgrounds parking will be located, the Board of Larimer County Commissioners and other officials on December 18 broke ground on facility improvements to the Larimer County Fairgrounds at the Ranch.
The main access roadway, Arena Circle, that patrons currently use to access fairgrounds and park their vehicles, will be relocated to the west side of the fairgrounds parking lot to improve traffic flow and safety. When completed, pedestrians will also be able to enter the facilities more safely. But other enhancements are coming, too.
Livestock and equine facilities will also be improved with a dedicated youth and community indoor arena for working with and showing animals. New outdoor riding rings, a new RV facility with better services for guests, and storage facilities are also planned. The current warm-up ring in the Mac Equipment Complex Indoor Arena and Livestock Pavilions will also be expanded.
The facility improvements are funded through a sales tax approved by Larimer County voters in 1999 and extended by voters in 2017.
