City of Loveland issued the following announcement on Nov. 24.

New and more stringent public health orders that took effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, require that the City of Loveland adjust operations of its services and facilities to comply with new restrictions.

The continuing surge in coronavirus cases, hospitalizations, positive test results and other indicators in Larimer County will move the COVID-19 risk assessment to red, high risk, from the yellow or moderate risk level that had been previously designated.

The change means that businesses, schools, houses of worship and other community institutions must modify their operations to accommodate new public health requirements. Likewise, the City will take measures to comply.

“We now face the most serious public health threat since the COVID pandemic first surfaced in Loveland last March,” City Manager Steve Adams said. “Recognizing that the health of our employees and the citizens who use City facilities is more at risk now than ever before, we need to take steps to ensure that we change our operations to reduce that risk to the greatest extent possible.”

Below are ways the City of Loveland facilities will alter operations of facilities. Be aware that face coverings and social-distance requirements are in effect at all facilities.

Parks & Recreation:

  • The Chilson Recreation Center will remain open for use, observing the health order’s provision that capacity cannot exceed 10 percent. Reservations for gym, fitness and aquatics facilities are required by calling 970-962-2386. The Small Fries preschool will operate under its customary schedule.
  • Loveland’s 33 parks remain open for unrestricted use, as do natural areas and trails. Dog parks, playgrounds and hard courts also are operating normally.
  • Golf courses will observe staggered tee times and “touchless” services such as online reservations. Carts may be shared by members of a household, but otherwise restricted to one person per cart.
Cultural Services:

  • The Rialto Theater will remain closed until further notice. Scheduledperformances and events may be offered on a virtual basis, and some may be cancelled. Consult the Rialto website for details at www.RialtoTheaterCenter.org.
  • The Loveland Museum remains open to visitors during regular hours following a holiday closure that runs Thursday, Nov. 26 through Monday, Nov. 30. Capacity restrictions will be enforced by the museum staff.
Loveland Public Library:

The state’s libraries on Nov. 17 were classified by Colorado Health Department as “critical services.” Therefore, the Loveland Public Library will operate under normal hours, and with expanded alternatives for virtual and online services. Consult the Library website at www.LovelandPublicLibrary.org for information on those offerings.

Development Services:

  • Planning and Building divisions will operate normally with reduced staffing.
  • Building inspection and code enforcement services will operate normally.
  • Customers are encouraged to use the Development Center’s online services at www.cityofloveland.org/services/development-services.
Utility Billing/Sales Tax services:

Walk-in service for utility billing issues and sales tax assistance will be available as usual on the ground floor of the Municipal Building annex.

Recycling Center: The City’s Wilson Avenue Recycling Center will operate as usual.
