Larimer County issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.

The Colorado Legislature passed a bill that granted County Treasurers the authority to waive delinquent interest from June 15, 2020, through Sept. 30, 2020, for 2019 taxes payable in 2020. Taxpayers may submit payment until Sept. 30, 2020, without penalty or delinquent interest. Payment must be received in the office by Sept. 30th. Cash or certified funds will be required for payment as of Oct. 1, 2020. Treasurer Irene Josey encourages those who can pay their property taxes before the waiver ends to please do so.

Beginning Oct. 1, 2020, interest will accrue at the statute-mandated 1% per month and be subject to advertising and distraint fees as scheduled. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the annual Larimer County Tax Lien Sale will be held online beginning Nov. 19, 2020.

All property taxes must be collected to meet the budgetary requirements of all certified taxing authorities. The timely receipt of property taxes is essential to the effective delivery of services to you by our county health department, fire districts, cities, towns, and special districts, and local law enforcement agencies.
