Larimer County issued the following announcement on July 1.
An internet speed test and connectivity survey starting July 1 and running through August 15, 2020, has been developed by Larimer County to measure resident and business connection speeds in the county.
Data that is collected from the speed test and survey will support additional information on internet service projects that have already been completed and those underway so resources can be refined and directed to address connectivity gaps in Larimer County.
Connection to the internet in rural, underserved, and unserved areas of Larimer County including uploading and downloading information is much slower than in cities because of the availability of internet service which has replaced outdated technology.
Of particular interest are underserved and unserved areas in rural Larimer County with slow connectivity to the internet. However, all residents of Larimer County are needed to take part in the test, regardless of whether living in a town, city, or rural setting.
Larimer County residents are also encouraged to participate in a survey to gather as much data as possible on connectivity speed to create a map of digital service gaps in Larimer County.
Broadband connectivity in Larimer County is a component 2019 – 2023 Larimer County Strategic Plan Goal One, Objective Three which aims to improve broadband connectivity in rural areas of Larimer County.
