Colorado State falls to Utah State in four-set volleyball match

The Colorado State Rams women’s volleyball team was defeated by Utah State in a four-set match on Thursday night at the Wayne Estes Center in Logan, Utah. The Aggies, who currently lead the conference, secured the win with set scores of 25-15, 19-25, 28-26, and 25-22.

Utah State started strong by taking the first set 25-15. In response, Colorado State rebounded in the second set with a .609 hitting percentage. Eve Wilson contributed four kills during this frame and finished the match with a total of 12 kills.

After tying the match at one set each, the third set became pivotal as both teams traded points into extra play. Sophomore Maria Brun led Colorado State in this set with five kills and ended as the team’s top scorer with 14 kills overall. Despite timeouts from both sides late in the set, Utah State managed to secure two consecutive points to take a 2-1 lead.

In the fourth and final set, Utah State maintained its momentum and completed their victory to remain undefeated in conference play for the season.

Additional contributions for Colorado State included Kekua Richards and Riley Simpson who posted 13 and 10 kills respectively. Setter Erin Debiec recorded 51 assists along with eight digs, while freshman Halle Jameson led defensively with 11 digs.

The Rams will continue their road trip as they head to Boise to face Boise State on Saturday at noon.
